The AirWar Patch
Back
Installation instructions
READ THIS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
If you do not read and follow these instructions you are on your own!
- Any and all previous AirWar patches, paints, etc have to be removed. You should uninstall any previous AirWar patch
delete or rename that Airwar folder.
- Download The AirWar patch for the current scenario, normally there will be an AWFM and AWPT file, but for now there is
a single file; AWTEST##.ZIP.
- Extract the files to the same place on your harddrive; usually C:\. If you extract them to C:\ then a folder named
AirWar will be created and the rest of the files placed in it. Then, if you open C: in My Computer
there will be an AirWar folder inside. You do not create an AirWar folder!
DO NOT extract these files to your Redbaron folder or it may damage your game.
You are now ready to use the patch.
- Make sure there are no patches installed that alter the aircraft in the game. Wingstrut, Beery's, any FM/DM patches
such as EM2, will conflict with the AirWar patch.
Promise Land sounds and graphics, Beery's Terrain patch, Rabu's Winter, PL Spring, Wingstrut's Fall, do not conflict
with the AirWar patch.
- From My Computer open C: (or whatever folder you put the patch in) then open the Airwar folder. Read the
AWREADME.TXT file.
- Double-click on the AWPATCH.BAT icon. A window will open and a lot of text will scroll by ending with
*** Finished installing AirWar Patch. You may close this window ***
The patch is now installed. To verify this, an AirWar icon will appear on your desktop, when ever this icon is on the decktop,
the patch is installed. The icon serves no function except as a flag to show the patch is installed.
- What happened? The installer checks for the AirWar icon on your desktop. If it finds one, the AW patch is already
installed, and AWPatch will uninstall the AirWar patch, otherwise it backs up several files and places the AirWar
version in their place. It then copies the paint schemes to your paint folder, and a map to your Multiplayer folder.
- To remove the patch, open My Computer, and go to the AirWar folder you installed from. Double-click on
AWPatch.bat. When the patch has been removed, the AirWar icon will also be removed from the desktop to let
you know the patch is not installed.
- If you installed Red Baron 3-D to a hard drive other than C:, you will need to change the value of the
Drive variable at the top of AWPatch.bat before it will work properly. AWPatch.bat will
detect whether you have RB2 or RB3D without any editing.
- You may use an alternative method of installing and uninstalling the patch if you wish (e.g., the Campaign Manager);
however, installing it this way must have the exact same effect as installing it with the script (i.e., the same
flight and damage models must be installed, the Promised Land engine sounds must be removed, etc.)
Note: The files below should be unzipped to the same location. If the Multi file is unzipped to C:, the
Paint file should also be unzipped to C:
Before unzipping the full patch file, Any prior AirWar patches need to be uninstalled and their c:\airwar folder deleted.
2-Gun ACSPECS: Mounts a Lewis gun on the N17 in addition to the deck mounted Vickers and gives the
HD-1 twin Vickers - fixed 12/13!
