narrative: Got to the field and took off with #15 but had mechanical problems almost immediately I got back up a short
time later and found #15 again and began flying the assignment with him. Well into the mission #15 signaled me that he
spotted an EA. I could not see it despite my better vision so I followed 15 down to find a sole B/R #9 with no cover.
#15 and I got on his six and began putting rounds into him. He headed for the mud and we followed him over to the enemy
side with him firing rockets to signal for help. We emptied our ammo clips into him without bringing him down and began
to head back to our base. I meched again right after landing and called it a night.

narrative: Patroled installations with #12 Dawson. After nearly an hour I spotted a plane low near a Supply dump.
I signaled the sighting to Dawson. He couldn't pick it up so I signaled him to follow and I dove after the con. As I
got closer I could hear sirens so it seemed the plane was hun. I continued my dive and began to fire on the #9 hun
two-seater. Dawson joined me in the attack a couple minutes later and we proceeded to pepper the hun without mercy:-)
About half over the mud I ran out of ammo. I shoot off half of his elevator and heavily damaged his rudder. I also
killed the tailgunner on my second or third burst. Unfortunately none of this seemed to hinder the hun from getting away.
I watched mournfully as it continued to descend towards hun territory firing off rockets. Dawson must of ran dry as well
since he had broken off his attack. We both headed for home to rearm. On landing at base Dawson had engine trouble.I took
off again and patroled alone for awhile until I was forced to call it a day myself.

Claims: #3
narrative: Encountered large group of enemy single seaters and #18 and myslef positioned ourselfs for some cat and
mouse. Once we had achived our positions we attacked and broke up this rather joined group of J18 and J27. They
appeared to a combined group of Albatross D3 and the new Dva. I singled out a lone scout that had become seperated
from his group and attacked. It was a case of raw nerves on both our parts because we hit each other and I began a
slow flutter down to the ground. I was able to regain control at 200m alt and set it down just as pretty as you please
then promtly tipped over in a shell hole.
I lit my craft on fire and ran for the lines that were just a click away.

narrative: Took off from aero with #7 and headed s by se, that is when I made a monumentally stupid mistake. In open chat
(Thought I was in vs, but had left for a sec and came back) I told 7 to head s, se. This obviously proved our undoing.
Before we were able to get over the mud we were jumped frrom behind by three alb DIII. I broke right and sw, trying to
lose #19 on my tail, #7 broke a after and actually put some bullets in #19 before other two huns sent him down in flames.
#19 put a few in my engine, cutting my top speed to 200 knots. Cut engine to avoid fire at low altitude after seeing #7
go up in smoke and tried to set plane down on allied side of mud in hail of bullets and crashed into hillside. Planes
upper wing and lower left wing remained intact even after a few strafing passes from the huns. I quickly jumped out of
the craft and ran to some near by trees before catching ride back to aero.
The intercept was a perfect one and it seemed like they knew exactly when and where we were going to be. They had alt
on us and must have headed for that spot right after takeoff. Never did see them while scanning skies and am assuming
they came out of high sun to south before winging over and taking us apart. Very quick mission which lasted all of 20
minutes.

narrative: Took off from base with #1. Closed up with him and started to climb. We got to nme side of mud and decided
to climb to 3k. That's when I heard gunfire! They were on us...lots of em! I ran for our side of the mud but the Strutter
wouldn't leave em. #1 pulled in front of me with one on his six. I put a few rounds into the Alb. but #2 caught me on
fire before I could do any real damage.

narrative: Upon entering enemy territory , spotted 2 enemy scouts , who in turn spotted me .. immediately headed back
to our lines , but the Alb DVas caught me mid mud ..
With bullets buzzing around , I put my craft down within sight of Belgian village 25 (367).One German craft strafed
me once before they left.Unable to restart the RE8 , I proceeded to the village then on to Aire , where a crew was send
to retrieve my aerocraft.
I was lucky , in that my flight had taken off late ....I found out later that the remainder of Esc 6 had not returned
at all by evening.

Claims: Bombed Target 196
narrative: My what a fine flight we were - 3 or 4 R/B's lifted off on schedule. We had a bombing assignment. The RE-8
is a much better aircraft than the be2c - at least one can climb!
Sadly, this one had engine problems. Just east of bridge XXX she began to throw oil. We set her down to save the
engine and caught a ride up to XXXXXXXX and grabbed another RE-8 [meched]. We headed out at top speed in a bee's line towards
our target. Damned if this one didn't seize up just over NML. We landed and luckily caught an ambulance headed away
from the lines back to Leffincklauke. Begged off a THIRD RE-8 and headed east [meched again].
Approached target unimpeded and dropped two right next to buildings. Damage was evident, but when we reached for the
confirming camera we realized with disgust that this RE-8 was not equipped for photos. My observer scrambled to get his
Kodak out of his kit, but in the process of readying it, broke a rudder cable. We set THIS RE-8 down in NML and scrambled
for our side [meched and called it a night].
