narrative: Took off on time, lots of my squad mates were there as well, nearly collided, the sky was so thick with planes.Had a sputtery engine so I had to land.
Mechanical problems seemed to plague me today- the new Handiot seems just as finicky as the old N11 or N17.In fact I grabbed an N17 to see if that worked but,
again, those rotaries drive me nuts!! The mechanics finally my bird ready, took off and almost ran smack into 2 Strutters returning, swerved out of the way and that
seemed to loosen something in the rotary and i meched again.Took off later, spads and other planes had just landed.Got some air time, but I think the mechanics are
sneaking schnapps or rum into the repair tent!

narrative: 1st sortie:
Took off with 6,8,and 10. got over hun base, and saw what must have been friendly bombers. they hit the drome then left. about 2 min later we saw 3 dots low. we
decided to follow to see if they are friendly or enemy. We saw them fly directly over a depot, yet no AA. Must be Enemy. as we were following. i noticed 2
contacts Really close to our 1 o clock. by then we had lost visual on 6 and 8. we started outrunning the 2 huns above us, when hun #8 comes from in front of us,
fires some shots, and comes up behind me. He hit me a couple times. Bye then we outran him and landed for refueling.
2nd sortie: saw 6 dots low, followed them. fired off some flares along with 10. all 6 dots ran e. at the base they split into 2's. 2 landed. 2 went n, and 2 went w. me
and 10 then flew around the area, then went back to the drome and landed

Game time: 55 minutes
Took off on the assigned run with #15. We reached the first waypoint when I
meched and had to return to base.
I took off again alone hoping to catch my assigned mates but I seemed to
have been too far behind. I crossed enemy lines and was over Hun drome XX
when I caught sight of 3 enemy aircraft that were probably drawn to me by
the AA fire. I turned and headed SW drawing them with me for a time but then
losing them. I worked to regain lost Alt but finally I decided that it was
fruitless to try to find my friends so I headed back to cap our resources
and perhaps meet up with another squad mate.
I was over Airdrome XX when I started noticing erratic performance again and
I was back on the ground. I was having major difficulties so decided to call
it a day.

AircraftStatus: ok
TimeIn: 1 hour+
narrative: Flew a very long escort mission today. B/R had completed mission and we were on the way home when his engine went bad. That wiped out his mission
and we were forced to refly it later in the day. We got through most of it again before we had to call it day. Very quiet day with no hun sightings at all. Not that I
mind that much any more :-)

narrative: Escorted R/B to target hand back with no enemy contacts. Esc5 patroilled the Hun territory looking for a fight 4 strong and found nothing.
We split up and went back to where we had encountered them in the past and sure enough there they were. We didn't spot them till one of their planes fired off a
rocket or flare. It must have been an R/B that spotted our shapes in the sky.
Lead attacked first and broke up the formation and I tried to get a visual of what we were up against. I looked left and and low and saw my lead was in trouble so I
dove on the two huns firing full tracer rounds at 18. They must have had eyes in the back of their heads as they both broke off about the same time I strated
recieving fire from my left flank by two more Huns!
I quickly broke and was surprised to see that 18 had turned around and broke them off my tail and quickly turned himself in a tail over and dove away. We had
both recieved hits with 18 being the worse but we think we broke up the attack and we headed for home to repair and alert HQ of the contact and formation
strength.
Being so late in the day they must have hoped to attack us near twilight and escape under cover of darkness. We decided to trun in for the night and resume the
hunt tomorrow!

TimeIn: 1 hour+
Claims: 20 recon photos
narrative: Very successful recon of enemy's roads and movements , 20 revealing plates returned safely late in the
day ...
Morning looked like a disaster .Our RE8 had just been repaired from the bullets it took the other day , and a damaged
oil line was missed .. We were over the German front earlier in the day and it developed a pinhole leak , covering
everything with oil mist.
It took longer to change clothes and wash the awful castor oil taste from our mouths than it took the mechanic to
replace the oil tube !
Good part was neither Helga or I had our usually chapped lips after this flight
