DaveAce #15 Squadriglia 76
KIA
Postmortum Report: I took off from base - at 2130 along with wing #13. We flew southeast over no mans land to the west border of the front near drome 14. #13 spotted enemy in the vicinity of drome he dove to attack while I circled at above to asess the situation. When I began my dive to join the fray I recognised enemy AC #1. In the midst of my dive French/Italian engineering prevailed and a portion of my wing tore off. #13 must have gotten hits on austrian #1 because in spite of my plane's weakened condition, I was able to get on #1's six and pump many machine gun rounds into his plane. He was limping back to his airfield and my plane was getting difficult to manouver so I decided to desengage and return to base for repairs. After repair and refuel we again took off to patrol the enemy lines near drome 14. Suddenly we were pounced upon by a very daring and agrressive foe, #1 obviously repaired from the days earlier encounter. After a head on pass with the enemy, I turned my Hanriot to meet him in a turning fight. I guess the mechanics at the drome did a rather hasty job of patching my plane for suddenly my entire top wing tore off. I immediatly disengaged and began to head back to base. While struggling to control my aircraft, #1 got on my 6 and poured round after round into me. #13 was finally able to engage him and clear my six but it was too late. My a/c totally out of control crashed into no mans land.
Hudson (#17):
KIA, shot down by hun #18
Got into plane late due to mechanical problems. Noticed that Roberts mechanic was also having difficulty so ran over to give him a hand. When got into air, headed toward target. Heard sirens near drom 5 and could not find a friendly plane. Thought hard about aborting mission. Just then saw friendly planes above. Dove toward target and heard gun fire on my tail. I quickly lit a flare to signal my friend and turned my plane around. I got several round into hun #18, then went into a unrecoverable spin. In my excitement I used too much rudder. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I should have gone with my gut feeling and aborted the mission .

Targets Damaged: 1, Targets Destroyed: 1
Sir,
I took off from base #- at approximately 2135 hours alone as it appeared
pilot #17 was having engine trouble. I flew to C3_5 and attempted to hit the
Western most bridge there. I am embarrased to say that I used my entire load
without a single hit. I will take measures to ensure better bombing skills in
the future.
I then refueled at base #- and returned to the same bridge. I saw my second bomb land on the roadway but no "Bridge Destroyed" signal appeared on screen. Positive that this bomb struck target, I was curious to inspect damage. As I decended I observed one section of the bridge had collapsed. I took a few rounds from ground gunners for my efforts and returned to base #- to refuel. As I neared the runway, I heard the air-raid siren blaring and decided to continue on to base #- to refuel. No aircraft in sight.
I returned to C3_5 where I started on the Eastern most bridge there. On my first pass, bomb hit and "Bridge Destroyed" appeared on screen. Due to sirens I had heard earlier at base #- and being solo, I thought it wise to refuel at base #- instead. I saw #16 leaving runway as I approached, we waved and I saw that it was Roberts. After refueling I hurried out to try to find a target, but was unable to detroy or damage anything before game end.

Kills: #1 (flame, possibly killed pilot)
Took off with #15 at 21:30 3/26, proceeded into Hun territory. As we approached an enemy drome, I spotted 2 unidentified contacts low at a SE heading. I announced my visual contact to #15 and proceeded to investigate. I discovered hun #1 there (never identified second contact) and was greeted by a string of bullets. Unable to find my wing mate, near an unfriendly drome, with possible other enemies while 1 was on my tail, and not in a dogfighting plane, I dove low and west to try to find my wingman and possibly take the offensive. While I was gaining distance, I looked to my rear and saw tracers, now I at least knew where #15 was. I turned to attempt to clear 15's six, and when I decided he was disengaged and headed home (I had by now found that he had lost a portion of his wing), I joined him in the "advancement to the rear".
After we had landed, repaired, and rearmed, we were back on our way east. While over the front I found 2 contacts (instead of just 1 belonging to #15) to my side. I swung to find out what was up and saw tracers. Upon closer examination I found #1 at his normal business and #15 the victim of foreign engineering once again. I popped a good many into #1 and 15 was now attempting to make it home free of the tailing of #1. #1 was now flying east to his drome (by the lack of maneuvers and shooting, I think he had wasted his ammo foolishly at a crippled plane). I heard the explosion of 15's plane and so I proceeded to avenge his death. He flew very low, but I put a few strings into his fuselage, but saw no damage. Just as he was about to land, flames engulfed his cockpit and I suffered engine troubles and was forced to return to base (flame mech). The engine was too much of a match for the ground crew, and I couldn't recommence in hostilities for the rest of the night. I was unable to tell if #1 had crashed, died, or landed.
