Albatros C.VII
The new CVII would be little more than a "stop-gap" aeroplane until the design utilizing the more powerful 260 hp.
Mercedes engine became available. Superficially something of a hybrid of the C.V/16 and C.V/17,
the fuselage had been considerably reworked to accommodate the Benz engine and the cylinder block
protruded well above the cowl.
The radiators were placed on the fuselage sides and the lower wing reverted to the raked tips of the C.V/16.
The tail assembly was identical to that of the C.V/17.
As is often the case with a "stop-gap" machine, the C.VII proved to be an extremely successful and well-liked aeroplane.
It was reported to be comfortable and not tiring to fly. As many as 350 were serving on all fronts by February 1917.
