RAF BE2c
The BE2 series formed the backbone of the English observation corps in 1916. First introduced in 1913, this aircraft was obsolete by the time machine guns were introduced to air combat. Unsuited for air bombat, its only defense was a rear facing machine gun that the observer, sitting in front, had to shoot over the pilot's head. Despite suffering terrible losses this type remained in service until well into 1917.
