One of the first aircraft to mount a machine gun. It used steel wedges on the propellor to deflect any bullets that might strike. It was a very fast aircraft for its day, but not terribly manueverable and reputedly very difficult to fly. It saw only very limited service before being replaced by Nieuport scouts.
